Overview

Building on the foundation laid in NBC3008 Building Surveying Project 1, which explored the project scope, design considerations, and planning strategies, this capstone unit continues with the creation, delivery, and evaluation phases of their respective projects. The unit offers students a unique opportunity to consolidate and apply their acquired knowledge and skills in the profession of building regulations. The unit's objective is to deliver on projects involving substantial practical building surveying content. Throughout this unit, students will be responsible for organising, implementing, and evaluating various components critical for the successful completion of a building surveying focused project in accordance with building codes. Projects area undertaken by small student teams, fostering a collaborative environment typical of the building surveying industry.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Analyse and deliver evidence-based recommendations relevant to a building surveying project;
  2. Propose and present a range of solutions to real and anticipated building surveying problems, taking into account the dynamic nature of construction practices;
  3. Produce a range of documents and/or artifacts appropriate to the building surveying profession; and
  4. Communicate ethically and professionally, confidently defending ideas and proposals to relevant audiences.
