Join us for the 24th Chinese Bridge – Chinese Proficiency Competition for College Students, a major annual event celebrating Chinese language and culture.

This year’s Melbourne regional round will be held on Saturday, 24 May 2025, hosted by the Chinese Consulate-General in Melbourne, in collaboration with the Australian Tertiary Chinese Teachers Association and the Victoria Business Confucius Institute (VBCI) at Victoria University.

Competition procedure

The event will be held in person at Victoria University's Footscray Park Campus and livestreamed across multiple platforms, allowing family, friends, and supporters to join in from anywhere. Livestream links will be shared closer to the event date.

Each contestant will:

  • Deliver a 2-minute presentation on the theme “One World, One Family”.
  • Perform a 3-minute talent showcase, such as singing, dancing, calligraphy, martial arts, or another creative performance.

Prizes & opportunities

The first -place winner will qualify to compete in the international Chinese Bridge Competition in China. The runner-up will have the opportunity to attend the international round as a guest observer.

Who can participate?

To be eligible, contestants must:

  • 18-30 years old
  • Australian citizens
  • born and raised outside China
  • whose native language is not Chinese
  • whose parents’ native language is not Chinese
  • students (undergraduates or graduates) from Victorian or Tasmanian universities.
