Congratulations on completing your studies!

You can be proud, knowing that you’ve given it your all in your final unit. You have achieved a major life milestone and will soon become part of the Alumni community. Here you will find all the information you need to know to guide you through the completion of your course.

Eligibility for completing your course

You must satisfy all the requirements of your course to be assessed for course completion. You are eligible to graduate if:

  • you have completed and passed all assessment requirements for the course
  • your results for the entire course are officially published
  • you have no outstanding fees or fines
  • you have completed Unique Student Identifier (USI) verification.

Please make sure any payments of outstanding fees and USI verification are completed at least 5 business days before the results release date for a timely assessment of completion.

To pay any outstanding fees, please refer to our guide about paying through the student payment portal, ECA-VU MESHED HE

To complete USI Verification, you can apply for a USI and submit it via MyVU.

Notice of Completion

Once you’ve completed your course, and you have successfully met all requirements to graduate, you will be assessed for a course completion.

When your course completion is approved, we will send the Notice of Completion to your email. It's important to check your personal details in MyVU to make sure that you have a current personal email address in case you forget to check your student email.

Our Assessments and Completions team will send you a Notice of Completion once you have satisfied all the requirements of your course. The processing of completions generally takes around 10 business days, but can vary.

Once you have received your Notice of Completion – your course is considered as completed.

If you have queries regarding Notice of Completion, please contact our Student Administration Team at [email protected]

Graduation

There are no graduation ceremonies held at VU Brisbane. You will be invited and encouraged to attend the Melbourne ceremonies, if convenient.

VU hosts two graduation ceremonies every year, in March and September respectively.

VU Brisbane Students will be advised about the graduation ceremony by email, once you've completed your course requirements and are eligible to graduate.

You’ll receive an invitation approximately six weeks before the next graduation ceremonies, provided you have been issued a Notice of Completion. You can choose to attend a formal graduation ceremony, or collect your testamur (award/certificate) at your convenience. Refer to our Awards and Testamurs Procedure for more information.

If you have queries regarding graduation, please contact VUHQ.

When to expect your graduation ceremony

If you receive your notice of completion between 1 August—31 January, you will be invited to the March ceremony. If you receive your notice of completion between 1 February – 31 July, you will be invited to the September ceremony.

Invitation letters for family

You can request invitation letters for your family if they plan to attend from international locations. Invitations are provided by VU Melbourne.

Academic records

Once your award has been conferred, you will be able to access a digital copy of your testamur (award), and academic transcript (results) from My eQuals.

Students who attend a graduation ceremony will be able to pick up a hard copy of their testamur (certificate) after the ceremony.

If you opt to graduate without attending a ceremony, you can request to have your certificate posted to you.

If you would like a copy of your academic transcript before your award has been conferred, you can order a copy for a small cost. You must have paid all outstanding fee to be eligible to apply for your transcript.

If you need to request for your certificate posted to you, please contact VUHQ.
