About our timetables

Our courses are offered in two structures:

  • Postgraduate courses are delivered via the 8-Week Block model.
  • Diploma and undergraduate programs are delivered via the VU Block Model®.

All programs at VU Sydney run in semester-based delivery.

Important terminology

When checking your course dates, please note that the administrative census date or last day to add units is the deadline for adding units each study period.

The census date is your last day to withdraw from your course or unit(s) without financial penalties.

If you miss census date but withdraw before the deadline for withdrawing without academic penalty (listed as WD deadline on this page) you will avoid the academic penalty (fail), but you will remain liable for the fees.

If you withdraw after the WD deadline you will fail the unit and also be liable for the fees. This is called withdraw with academic penalty (listed as WN fail on this page).

Undergraduate & higher education diploma programs

Postgraduate programs

Please check your course dates here and note that:

  • all postgraduate programs are delivered via the VU 8-week Block Model
  • the 8-week Block Model is delivered via semester delivery.

Non-block semester

These dates apply across our Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane campuses.

Results will be displayed in MyVU at 12pm AEST (noon) on the dates listed here.

Public holidays & University closures

Note: If a class is cancelled due to a public holiday, an alternative mode of delivery for the content planned for those days will be communicated to you by your Course Coordinator on student email and VU Collaborate.

Australian Aboriginal flag Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Ancestors, Elders and families of the Kulin Nation (Melbourne campuses), the Eora Nation (Sydney campus) and the Yugara/YUgarapul and Turrbal Nation (Brisbane campus) who are the traditional owners of University land.
