Student Mentors

Our Student Mentors are fellow international students just like you! They are a helping hand and provide valuable assistance throughout your academic journey.

Whether you're navigating VU's systems such as MYVU Portal and VU Collaborate or seeking guidance on administrative processes like applying for special consideration or advanced standing, our Student Mentors have got you covered.

Their expertise extends to easing your transition, both virtually and on-campus. From navigating the physical spaces to settling into university life, they're your go-to source for advice. Some of the daily activities our mentors perform regularly on our campus include:

  • assisting with enrolment procedures
  • making follow-up calls to students
  • providing front desk support for general student enquiries
  • engaging in major events such as Orientation days, sports, and cultural activities and much more.

VU.ihelper

At VU Sydney, iHelpers are current students just like you, employed on a casual basis to provide essential support to evening students after hours (Monday to Friday, 5—9pm). 

Acting as the first point of contact for student inquiries, iHelpers help with: 

  • administrative processes
  • navigating university systems
  • triaging services to complement the Student Services Department.

Their role is pivotal in ensuring a seamless student experience and fostering a supportive campus environment, especially for those attending classes outside regular hours.

Empower your professional skills

VU Sydney is committed to empowering our mentors through innovative opportunities. We are proud to introduce our Student Services Block Project, which allows our mentors to lead initiatives in collaboration with the Student Services team. These projects and programs aim to create meaningful impacts within our international student community.

The project proposal and implementation span 8 weeks, with new mentors assigned to lead different projects each block. Additionally, our mentors work closely with the Student Representative group to ensure the successful implementation of these initiatives. This collaboration fosters a sense of community and allows international students to contribute to meaningful outcomes for our university.
